YaÜ is founded on the traditional Vietnamese recipe for da ua (pronounced “ya-ooh”) — Vietnamese yogurt. We adopted a playful take on the phonetic spelling of the word da ua, and named our yogurt YaÜ.
YaÜ is completely unlike the traditional yogurts available in the supermarket — it has a velvety smooth, nearly cloudlike texture that’s both light and rich. And the taste is creamy, with a subtle tang and just the right amount of sweetness. This flavor comes from the natural sweetness in milk, which is gently caramelized to develop a complexity and depth that no other yogurt can offer. YaÜ strikes a perfect balance of satisfying decadence and guilt-free, healthful wholesomeness. Eating YaÜ not only tastes great, but feels great too — every spoonful is a little bit of joy.
Other yogurts can be cloyingly sweet, sour or unappetizingly bitter, chalky, watery, bland, or boring. Worse yet, many yogurt manufacturers add artificial ingredients and flavors, focusing on profits instead of quality. YaÜ is everything that these other brands are not. We are proud to make a pure, natural, and wholesome yogurt that will never have any artificial flavors or colors, preservatives, stabilizers, or high-fructose corn syrup. YaÜ yogurt will always be pure, simple, and made with the highest-quality possible. In a word, YaÜ will always be authentic.
We make YaÜ in small batches so we can ensure perfection in every cup. Our main ingredient, milk, is locally sourced from the Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association. This milk, from cows raised without any growth hormones such as BGH or rbST, ensures the freshest and highest quality yogurt possible. The rest of our ingredients are locally sourced whenever possible, helping support local farms and other businesses, and reducing our impact on the environment. And our process does not produce a whey byproduct, which is a waste material that other manufactures often dispose of in troubling ways. When whey is illegally dumped into the environment, it is damaging to waterways, aquatic life, and agricultural land — yet many large yogurt producers take this unethical and harmful shortcut. We keep the whey, which both enhances the thickness of our yogurt and boosts the protein and calcium content in YaÜ, making it even more delicious and nutritious.
